Your Internship Year

teacher support

Your Field Supervisor

Indiana Teachers will provide you with a Field Supervisor to support you in the classroom. Field Supervisors are experienced educators and administrators who will offer strategies and guidance to help you succeed in the classroom.

You receive a Field Supervisor once you are hired in the classroom. They will contact you to set up your first meeting and periodically visit your classroom to observe your teaching. You can rely on them for advice on how to handle all the aspects of being a teacher and work with them to improve your instructional skills.

We believe that providing you with consistent and positive support is one of the most important resources we offer. Indiana Teachers and our Field Supervisors are there to help you in every way possible.

Building Level Administrator Recommendation

Your Building Level Administrator is usually the Principal of your school. Your administrator is there to help you navigate on-campus issues and gain perspective on school culture. They will set the expectations of your performance in your teaching position and discuss your progress with you regularly. At the end of your internship year, your Field Supervisor and Building Level Administrator will submit a recommendation for your Practitioner License. Indiana Teachers will handle this step for you, no action is required on your part, though it is a necessary step to becoming a licensed teacher in Indiana.
